Comprehensive Evaluation of Thermal Comfort in Ship Cabins: A Case Study of Ships in Yangtze River Basin, China

In recent years, the waterway navigation and transportation industry has been developing rapidly, living environment of ship cabins not received much attention. Using questionnaire surveys, data collection computer simulations, this study explored problems causes related to thermal comfort that affect a crew onboard. The survey showed differences in sensations crew. Cabins below deck are usually more comfortable than those above deck. These were range frequent activities undertaken cabins. calculations show stern winch cabin engine was significantly higher top meeting cabin. For without windows winter, PMV PPD indexes on average 11.95% 7.03% lower, respectively, deck, indicating better overall simulation simulated an occupied up 17.55% actual PMV, number members affected its level comfort. results provide reference for understanding improving ships temporary water facilities.
